Raíces Cyber Youth Corps Competitions

Learn, Train, Win!

RCYC Competitions are extraordinary ways to Learn & achieve Real-Life Experiential Learning in Cybersecurity

Students will have a chance to compete in:

  • School

  • Regional

  • State

  • Nationals

Capture the Flag

A cybersecurity capture the flag (CTF) competition is an immersive cybersecurity challenge where participants engage in simulated real-world scenarios to uncover, exploit, and defend against vulnerabilities in computer systems.

These competitions typically involve solving a series of puzzles, challenges, or tasks that mimic common security threats and attack vectors. By participating in CTFs, students gain hands-on experience in various cybersecurity concepts such as network security, cryptography, web security, and reverse engineering.

Social Engineering Competitions

  • A cybersecurity social engineering competition is a specialized event where participants utilize psychological manipulation techniques to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or systems.

  • In these competitions, participants assume the role of attackers and attempt to exploit human vulnerabilities rather than technical weaknesses. By engaging in scenarios such as phishing attacks, pretexting, or impersonation, students learn to recognize and defend against social engineering tactics commonly used by cybercriminals.

  • These competitions provide invaluable practical experience, helping students develop a deeper understanding of human behavior in security contexts and enhancing their ability to mitigate social engineering risks in real-world settings.
